My Big Break in the Industry

I have always had a passion for acting and Japanese culture. I love everything about it. I love the food, history, and most of all, Japanese movies and films. When was younger, I was exposed to anime and Japanese shows in America. I used to stay glued to the television to watch my favorite shows. After college, I recently got the opportunity of a lifetime. I got the opportunity to act in a Japanese drama. This was my dream come true. I felt so blessed to be a part of the production. I will never forget this memory for as long as I live.

Metro Manila Cebu Film Festival – Philippines!

ddMMFF is perhaps the most well known event in the city. This is said to be the largest and longest running film festival in Philippines. It was established in 1975. This festival has been contributing greatly to aware public and making them support new talent. Today a large number of movie artists and producers take cheap flights to Manila and are gathered at film festivals in the Philippines as it provides a lot of inventive room for movie producers. This festival has its humble begging in the second half of twentieth century when the movie “Genghis Khan” was screened at the Venice Film Festival. It is said that this film created impression internationally for its filmmakers. It also gave birth to the first award-giving institutions in the Philippines.

Since its humble beginning in 1975, it has been successfully holding every year. This year it is the 26th edition of the festival. It holds from December 25 to the first week of January. Visitors take flights to manila to join this event. There are a large number of performances that are performed here. The most popular of these is the parade of floats during the opening of the festival. It includes award ceremony that is given to best films of the year as well as to the best actors of the year. Those taking cheap Manila flights find here much to celebrate. Every year a large number of entries are sent to participate in this event. This year’s entries are; Ang Tanging Ina Mo Rin, Rosario, Father Jejemon, Dalaw, RPG, Shake, Rattle and Roll XII, Super Inday and the Magic Bibe.

The Metro Manila Film Festival is organized not only by the city of Manila but many other Filipino cities also participate in this event including; Quezon City, and Bacolod. MMFF has played the role of a platform for the Filipino film industry and it gave the roots for the establishment of Manila International Film Festival organized by then First Lady Imelda Marcos in 1982 at Manila Center that attracted Manila flights from different parts of the globe. This event is organized by Manila Cultural center. The entries do not only invite films but it also covers animation, documentary, kids, and short films. The awards night at this fare is divided into three parts, entrance of the stars, awarding ceremony, and Katy the Musical. The most awarded actor is Christopher De Leon. The event attracts a large number of flights to Manila from UK and other global destinations.

Transylvania International Film Festival 2011, Cluj-Nappoca

kkkIn the heart of Transylvania, land of Dracula, is the city of Cluj-Napoca host of the Transylvania International Film Festival also known as TIFF. The festival is often confused with the Toronto festival because they share the same acronym. But if you just refer to Europe then there is no mistake in the middle.

The festival has reached his 10th anniversary, the first edition of the TIFF was held in the year 2002 in the city of Cluj-Napoca. As the festival grew more popular it traveled trough several cities of Romania, but the main host of the festival remains the city of Cluj-Napoca. This year the participant movies will also play in Sibiu and the Bucharest (the capital of Romania).

In the 9 years history of the festival a lot of big names from the movie industry have participated as quests, jury or in the contest, among them we can name: Franco Nero, Julie Delpy, Wim Wenders, Michael Radford, Annie Girardot, Udo Kier, Vanessa Redgrave, Nicolas Roeg, Catherine Deneuve and Claudia Cardinale.

Cannes Film Festival – Summer Highlight on the French Riviera

World War II postponed the event’s intended 1939 inception, but it subsequently became the first major international cultural event of the post-war period. The festival has been held every year since 1946, with the exception of 1948 and 1950. In 1952, it was moved from September to May. and remains the premier summer event on the French Riviera, as well as the focus of global media attention.

The most prestigious award conveyed during the event is the Palme d’Or for the top-rated film of the festival. There is also a Grand Prize, a Jury Prize, and recognition of the “bests” in the categories of short film, actress, actor, director, and screen play. The board of directors for the Festival chooses the juries prior to each event. These panels are made up of a broad cross-section of international artists selected for the quality of their individual bodies of work as well as for the regard in which they are held by their professional peers.

The Palais des Festivals, which opened in 1982, is an impressive modern complex with premier sound equipment and technology for simultaneous translation. Visitors are attracted to the Allées des Stars year round for its impressive collection of hand prints and signatures of the great notables of the industry. In addition to its three auditoriums and 11 conference rooms, the Palais has both a night club and a restaurant, and is a glittering centre of unparalleled red-carpet celebrity watching during the festival itself.
